Physical exercises are conducted within a specially designed heated pool to target and treat a wide variety of presentations. Hydrotherapy is significantly different from conventional swimming and aquarobics. The pool is heated up to 31-35 degrees and the exercises and movements are developed for your individual presentation to address treatment goals. Hydrotherapy is often less strenuous than land-based exercises, focusing on guided, controlled, pain–free movements with the ultimate goal of providing pain relief.
Some of the benefits that you may experience following a course of hydrotherapy include reduced muscle tightness and pain, plus reduced load bearing on joints. Increased muscle strength, better cardiovascular fitness and balance can lead to improved stamina and reduced risk of falls.
An initial land based assessment will be completed at our outpatient clinic to ascertain that hydrotherapy will be appropriate for your presentation.
