Suffering from symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction is very common, with 1 in 3 women experiencing urinary incontinence, 1 in 10 women experiencing faecal incontinence and 1 in 12 women with a prolapse. NICE guidelines currently recommend an individualised approach to treatment, to include guided pelvic floor muscle training with a physiotherapist.
8% of women experience pain during intercourse. Physical as well as psychological factors can play a role in Dyspareunia. Physical issues should be explored, and physiotherapy can support this process.
